Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT HAPPENS IN A TREATMENT SESSION?
A thorough, in-depth initial assessment is completed to determine the root cause of your problem and any other contributing factors. Your physio will talk to you about your history and concerns, then complete a movement-based assessment to form a diagnosis. A unique treatment plan is formulated, with your goals in mind, and an outline of the steps we need to take to achieve those goals. Recommendations are then made based on expert opinion and experience.
During a pelvic health session, your pelvic health physiotherapist will talk to you about bladder and bowel habits, sexual function, and concerns surrounding your pelvis. If indicated, an internal (vaginal) exam is often the best way to determine what is causing your symptoms, and to provide you with the best treatment plan.
WHAT CONDITIONS DO YOU TREAT?
We treat a wide range of conditions, from spinal and joint pain, to headaches, facial and jaw pain, biomechanical issues, pelvic pain and dysfunction, operative care and pre and post natal care.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET BETTER?
This is dependent on your injury. Your physiotherapist will give you an idea around timeframe for typical healing from your particular grade of injury, and what to expect with progress.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
We need to be able to see your injured body site - if it’s your knee, please wear shorts. If it’s your shoulder- please wear a singlet or bra you are comfortable in.
If you are uncomfortable exposing the body site we can work around it, just make sure your physio knows.
HOW DO I CLAIM ACC?
We are ACC-registered providers. We are a primary healthcare organisation, meaning you can lodge your accident-related claim directly with us.
We can directly lodge birth-related ACC injuries.
If you are unsure about whether your injury is accident-related, your physio can provide clarity around this within your appointment.
International visitors can also claim accident related costs whilst in New Zealand, provided their accident occurred in New Zealand. Conversely, you can also claim accident-related costs if you were overseas on holiday when you sustained your injury.
For any further ACC-related information, please refer directly to the ACC website; www.acc.co.nz
